Characteristics of the fabric and threads.

* Percale is the type of fabric with the most basic structure. Fabric in which, for its manufacture, a thread is crossed across the width of the fabric and a thread along it, and so on, throughout the weaving process. It is a fabric with a regular structure, which stands out for its natural touch, resistance and excellent breathability.

* The quality of a fabric is directly related to both the quality of the thread and the density of the fabric, which is the number of threads at the width and length of the fabric. The quality of the bedding will be higher the greater the number of threads the fabric has, although it is not the only factor, the quality of the thread, the manufacturing processes, etc. are also important.

Internationally, the density of a fabric is defined by the number of threads to the width and length of the fabric in a square inch (1 inch is equal to 2.54 cm.). Fabrics with a density of 180 threads or more (per square inch) are considered higher end fabrics.

* When the number of threads per weft and warp passes appears, it usually puts, for example, 30/30, this means that when weaving on the loom, 30 threads intersect horizontally (weft) and 30 vertically (warp).

* 200 threads per inch or more is directly related to softness and quality. The more threads per inch the weave has, the finer they have to be and this determines the softness of the sheet.

This is so, because when weaving, that is to say, crossing the threads of the weft with those of the warp, volume is produced in the fabric, the finer the threads, the less volume is produced and the softer and lighter the final fabric is.
